Short answer: The best SMD screen brands are the ones that can prove who made the screen, name the parts inside it, show valid certificates, give a written warranty and support it in Pakistan. A famous name alone is not enough. Compare brands on the same pixel pitch, brightness and size, then judge build quality, spare parts and after sales support.
We are the authorised Absen distributor in Pakistan, so we will not pretend to give a neutral ranking. What we can do is show the checks we would want any buyer to run, including on our own Absen SMD screen range. Use the same checklist on every quotation you get.
Why is there no single best SMD screen brand?
An SMD screen is not one product. A P10 outdoor billboard, a P2.5 boardroom wall and a rental stage screen are built for different jobs. A brand that is strong in one area may not offer the right series for another.
The right question is: which brand has the right series for my use, and who stands behind it here? That depends on:
- Where the screen goes: indoor, outdoor, semi-outdoor or on a rental truss
- Viewing distance, which decides the pixel pitch
- How many hours a day it will run
- Whether the brand has an authorised partner, spares and engineers in Pakistan
If you are new to the terms, our guide on what an SMD screen is explains modules, cabinets and pixel pitch first.
Who are the main LED display manufacturers?
When a seller says “brand”, it can mean three very different things:
| Type of seller | What they do | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| LED display manufacturer | Designs and builds the cabinets in its own factory, with its own model and serial numbers | Which series, and who is the authorised partner in Pakistan? |
| Rebranded or OEM label | Buys finished screens from a factory and puts its own name on them | Which factory made it, and does that factory support it? |
| Local assembler | Builds cabinets from generic modules, power supplies and cards bought separately | Where do the modules come from, and can you get the same batch later? |
Some LED display manufacturers known around the world include Absen, Unilumin, Leyard, LianTronics, Samsung, LG and Daktronics. This list is not a ranking. It shows that the market has real manufacturers with traceable products, and those are the names you should be able to verify on the label and in the documents.
Absen was founded in Shenzhen in 2001 and has been listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (code 300389) since 2014. A listed manufacturer has to publish reports, which makes its claims easier to check.
What should you compare between SMD screen brands?
Before you shortlist the best SMD screen brands for your project, make the quotations comparable. Ask every seller to quote the same pixel pitch, the same screen size and the same use. Then compare these points:

- Factory and traceability. Every cabinet should carry a model and serial number that the maker can trace. Missing or changed labels are a warning sign.
- Components named in writing. A good spec sheet names the LED package type, the receiving card and the controller platform. Check brightness, refresh rate and IP rating on the official spec sheet of the exact series, not a brochure for the whole range.
- Certificates. Ask for certificates that match the model, such as CE and RoHS, and the factory’s ISO 9001 quality certificate. A certificate for a different product line proves nothing about yours.
- Written warranty. The period for modules, power supplies and cards should be in the quotation, with the name of the company that honours it. Our SMD screen warranty guide explains what a real warranty covers.
- After sales support. Find out who will fix the screen in your city, and how fast. The next sections cover the questions to ask.
- Spare parts. Ask how many spare modules and power supplies come with the screen, and whether they are from the same production batch.
Branded vs unbranded SMD screen: what actually changes?
On the day of installation, a branded and an unbranded SMD screen can look almost the same. The difference shows when something fails.
With a branded screen, there is a factory that knows the exact product, a partner who can order matching parts, and documents that say who is responsible. With an unbranded screen, the seller is usually the only link in the chain. If that seller closes or stops stocking the same modules, you are left to find parts on your own.
This does not mean every unbranded screen is bad, or every branded screen is right for your job. It means the risk moves to you. If you want to check whether a screen sold as Absen is genuine, follow the steps in our guide on how to spot an original SMD screen.
How do you judge after sales support in Pakistan?
After sales support is where brands that look similar on paper become very different. A screen runs for years, and you will need help at some point: a dead module, a power supply, a controller setting, a software update.
Ask each seller these questions and note the answers:
- Is there an authorised partner of the brand in Pakistan? Which company, and in which cities?
- Are spare modules, power supplies and cards kept in the country, or ordered from abroad when needed?
- How fast is remote support, and how fast is a site visit in your city?
- Who trains your staff to swap a module or reload settings?
- What happens after the warranty ends? Can you still buy parts, and for how long?
A seller who answers these clearly, in writing, is usually a safer choice than one who only offers a lower price. Our SMD screen maintenance guide shows the kind of service a screen needs over its life.
How to use a brand comparison checklist on quotations
Put the quotations side by side in one table. Use the same rows for each brand:
| Check | Brand A | Brand B | Brand C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series and pixel pitch | |||
| Screen size and total resolution | |||
| Brightness (nits) and refresh rate | |||
| IP rating (outdoor) | |||
| Serial numbers listed in documents | |||
| LED package, receiving card and controller named | |||
| Certificates for this model | |||
| Warranty period for each part, and who honours it | |||
| Spare modules and power supplies included | |||
| Local office, engineers and response time |
Any empty cell is a question to send back to the seller. Compare prices only after the table is full. A lower price with three empty rows is not a lower price. It is missing information. Our SMD screen price guide explains which of these points change the cost.
How does Absen fit this checklist?
Here is how Absen answers the same questions, so you can hold us to them:
- Manufacturer: Absen designs and makes its own screens, with model and serial numbers on each cabinet.
- Audited records: Absen has passed the AEO Advanced audit of Shenzhen Customs, which checks a company’s trade records and processes. Our original SMD screen guide explains what that means.
- Local partner: Irfan Corporation is the authorised Absen distributor in Pakistan, with offices in Karachi and Islamabad.
- Documents: Each quotation states the series, the spec sheet and the warranty terms in writing.
If you are comparing Absen with other brands, send us the other quotations and we will help you fill the same table for an Absen series of the same pitch and size.
Frequently asked questions
There is no single best brand for every job. The best choice is a brand that has the right series for your use, can prove the screen is original, gives a written warranty and has an authorised partner with spare parts in Pakistan.
Many of the world’s largest LED display manufacturers are based in China, including Absen. Quality depends on the maker and the series, not the country. Check traceability, certificates and support, the same as for any brand.
Look for model and serial labels on each cabinet, ask for documents from the authorised partner, and confirm the partner with the manufacturer. Missing labels or a seller who cannot name the factory are warning signs.
Usually yes, for screens that will run for years. You pay for matching spare parts, a written warranty and support. For a short event, renting a branded screen is often better than buying a cheap one.
Ask for certificates that match the exact model, such as CE and RoHS, and the factory’s ISO 9001 quality certificate. Make sure the model name on the certificate matches the quotation.
Remote help, site visits in your city, spare modules and power supplies in stock, staff training, and a clear answer on parts availability after the warranty ends.
